  • ROM Photography, short for Registry of Marriage Photography, is a specialized style of photography dedicated to capturing the heartfelt moments of a couple’s legal union. This intimate ceremony marks the official beginning of a lifelong journey together and often serves as a prelude to a larger wedding celebration. Skilled ROM photographers focus on preserving every meaningful detail—from candid emotions and loving glances to the signing of the marriage certificate. With an emphasis on authenticity and storytelling, ROM photography beautifully documents the essence, joy, and significance of this milestone occasion.

  • We’ll arrive about 15 minutes before your scheduled ROM time to get ready and start with group photos with your family, friends, and guests.

When your turn is called, we’ll head into the solemnisation room to capture the ceremony—including the exchange of vows and rings. This usually takes around 10 minutes.

After the ceremony, we’ll take more group photos around the ROM building.

To end the session, we’ll go for an outdoor shoot with just the two of you. Some popular spots nearby include Fort Canning Centre, Sang Nila Utama Garden, Spiral Staircase, National Museum and etc. Feel free to suggest any locations you wanted!

Feel free to bring fun props like balloons or signs to add a personal touch to your photos!

  • We typically recommend a 1-hour ROM photography session. This covers photos before and during the ceremony, as well as group shots outside the ROM. After that, there's usually about 20 minutes left for a couple shoot.

If you'd like to have more time for your couple portraits or explore nearby locations, you may consider booking a 1.5 or 2-hour session for a more relaxed and complete experience.

  • Here are some simple tips to help you look and feel your best during your ROM ceremony. Don’t worry—we’ll gently remind you on the day too!

    1) Smile and Be Yourself
As the solemnisation begins, keep a natural, relaxed smile while facing your solemniser—it’s your special day! If emotions take over, that’s perfectly okay too. Just be yourself and enjoy the moment.

    2) During Vows & Speeches
When exchanging vows or giving a speech, remember to face each other, not the solemniser. These words are for your partner, and facing each other helps create a more heartfelt and intimate moment (and looks great in photos!).

    3) Ring Exchange Tips

    • Angle your wrists slightly towards the camera so the rings are more visible.

    • The person giving the ring should support the receiver’s hand with their free hand from below.

    • Use your index finger and thumb to place the ring—this helps keep the ring visible for the camera.

    • Don’t forget to flaunt your rings afterwards—show them off proudly to your guests and the camera!

    4) The Kiss
During the kiss, feel free to hold each other—hands, upper or lower back, arms, or elbows. It adds connection and makes the moment even more romantic.

    5) Signing the Certificate

    • When the groom signs, the bride can gently wrap or hook her arm around his.

    • When the bride signs, the groom can place his hand on her waist or shoulder.

These little touches add warmth and intimacy to your signing photos.

These tips are just to help you prepare in advance. We’ll be there to guide and remind you throughout, so you can relax and fully enjoy your big moment!

  • 1. Formal or Semi-Formal ROM
For a more formal event, brides can go for a classic wedding gown or an elegant white/ivory dress. Grooms typically wear a well-fitted suit in timeless shades like black, navy, or grey. Don’t forget to add accessories that reflect your personality.

    2. Casual or Informal ROM
If your solemnisation is more relaxed, opt for a simple and comfortable outfit. Brides can wear a flowy dress in light or pastel colours, while grooms can go for a smart-casual look with a dress shirt, trousers, and a blazer. Keep the venue and weather in mind.

    3. Destination or Themed ROM
Having a destination or themed ceremony? Let your outfit match the vibe! For beach solemnisation, think light fabrics and airy styles. If there’s a theme, coordinate your look with the colours and style to keep everything cohesive.

    4. Cultural or Traditional Attire
Want to honour your roots? Go traditional with a qipao, saree, hanbok, or any cultural attire that reflects your heritage. It’s a meaningful and beautiful way to celebrate your identity.

    5. Reflect Your Personal Style
Most importantly, wear what feels like you. Choose something that makes you feel comfortable, confident, and happy—it’s your day, and your outfit should reflect your unique personality.

    6. Accessories & Jewellery
Add finishing touches like a veil, tiara, necklace, cufflinks, or watch. The right accessories can elevate your overall look.

    7. Footwear
Pick shoes that match your outfit and are comfortable. Brides don’t have to wear heels—flats or sandals work great too, especially if you'll be on your feet or outdoors.

    8. Hair & Makeup
Go for a look that enhances your natural features. Consider professional hair and makeup services for a polished finish. Avoid long fringes that may cover your face during vows or speeches.

    9. Weather Considerations
If it’s hot, stick with breathable fabrics. For cooler days, consider layering or long sleeves to stay comfortable.

    10. Dress Code for Guests
Let your guests know the dress code so they can dress appropriately for your ROM. This helps set the tone and ensures everyone looks great together in photos.

    Bonus Tip:
Coordinate with your partner to ensure your outfits complement each other—it looks great in photos and adds a lovely sense of togetherness.

At the end of the day, the best outfit is one that makes you feel your best. Dress with confidence, and enjoy every moment of your ROM celebration!

  • While Registry of Marriage (ROM) and solemnisation are both key parts of a couple’s union, they serve different purposes:

    Registry of Marriage (ROM)
ROM is the legal process of registering a marriage in Singapore, typically held at the Registry of Marriages located at 7 Canning Rise. It’s often a simple and private event attended by the couple, their witnesses, and close family or friends. The main purpose of the ROM is to officially register the marriage by filing and verifying the necessary legal documents required for the solemnisation.

    Solemnisation
Solemnisation refers to the actual marriage ceremony. It’s the more traditional and symbolic part of the wedding, where a licensed solemniser officiates the union. During the ceremony, the solemniser reviews the legal documents, confirms the mutual consent of both parties, and oversees the signing of the Marriage Certificate. Solemnisations can take place at the ROM itself, or at other venues such as churches, temples, gardens, or even online via video link.
